Nagolla Aranya near Devahoowa in Galewela - Complete construction of a building (Project 9 - 2015/2016)

Background:
We visited the Nagolla Aranya near Devahoowa in Galewela a few weeks back. Two Bhikkus were in residence when we went. A meditation programme was due to commence in a few days and a lady was meditating in the very modest female quarters. The aranya is situated on a very ancient sacred site as the caves and inscriptions indicate. Around it is a heavilily forested hill.

We were impressed by the effort the Bhukkus were making to keep this ancient environment sacred. All around them the forest is being cleared and the hills quarried for stone. the only thing that is keeping this hill and forest safe seems to be the aranya, the Bhikkus and the support they receive from the village dayakayas.

The need for dana:
The kuti are modernised caves, and the other buildings are quite old. They are currently putting up a main building to replace all the scattered little buildings. The new building has reached roof level, but is in need of funds to complete. (please see attached photos)

It would indeed be a very worthy contribution to the Sasana, the lay meditators and the natural environment if anyone could help this Aranya.

Contacts:
When I asked the Bhikku how anyone could help he said to please call and discuss. The phone number is: 066 300 4692.

If you wish to visit, directions are,
From Kurunagala go to Galewela (on the A6 to Dambulla).
At Galewela turn left on to the Andiyagla road ( which goes on to Kalawewa).  About 10km on this road, turn right (just by the 36th km post and a huge quarry). Follow the village road for about 2km to the aranya.
